Boat making is prominently work at Inle Lake. We interviewed a boat maker to understand more about this great occupation and bring many interesting facts for you. 
It is produced two types of boats, one is a big motorboat that can measure from 24ft to 60ft length and the other is a small canoe that can measure from 18ft and can as long as required. The most common canoe has 21ft length. Interesting fact: the 60ft length motorboats are used as cargo boats and the 45ft length ones are used for passenger transportation. 
Teak wood is the main material to make a boat. It takes one week to make a canoe and one month to make a motorboat. A canoe cost around 450USD and a motorboat around 2.600USD 
How to make it? (1) The boat manufacturer must first choose and split the teak wood equally.
(2) Make the buttress and rib of a boat on which the boat is attached and glue these buttresses and ribs to the boat’s hull
(3) After that, they pave the floor of the boat. Then they flip it, tied it up and then turned it around to its original position.
(4) When the hull of the boat is in the shape they want, they finish it and add the finishing touch. Then they coat the piece with lacquer.
(5) They apply lacquer 3 times and then 3 more times with smooth lacquer. To obtain the smooth lacquer, they sieve it.
(6) The lacquer used to coat the boat is mixed with cooked straw powder. After the first coating, it is polished with bamboo sandpaper.
(7) Can be used maximun of 24kg of lacquer and minimum of 4.8kg. The best lacquer comes from Kyine Taung & Kyine Khan villages.
(8) After lacquering, the boat needs to dry. During the rainy season it takes a week, in the winter about 2 weeks and a lot more time in the summer. The boat should be in the shade and air dry only, it is not recommended to dry in the sun.

Different types of handicrafts are produced from the scrap wood, such as small furniture, souvenirs, keychains, bottle openers, teak plates, etc. The remains of sawdust and lacquer are pounded to be used as bandages for repairing old boats. 
When cutting wood, it is more efficient to measure by hand than electric cutting machine, which saves electricity and the day laborers can earn more.

စက်တပ်လှေကြီးအမျိုးအစားတွင် ပေအရှည်၂၄ ပေ မှစ၍ ပေ၆၀ ထိရှည်သော လှေများကို ပြုလုပ်ကြပါသည်။ ပေ-၆၀ ရှည်သော လှေကြီးများကိုတော့ ကုန်တင်ရန် သယ်ယူပ်ို့ဆောင်ခြင်းများတွင် အသုံးပြုကြပါသည်။

လှေငယ်- ကနူးလှေ (ဒေသအခေါ်- ကစ်လှေ) အမျိုးအစားတွင် ၁၈ ပေ လှေ ၊ ၂၁ ပေလှေ စသဖြင့် ပြုလုပ်ကြပါသည်။
လှေပြုလုပ်ရာတွင် ကျွန်း သည် အခြေခံကျသော၊ အဓိကကျသော ပစ္စည်းဖြစ်ပါသည်။ 
လှေငယ်-ကနူးလှေ( ဒေသအခေါ် - ကစ်လှေ) တစ်စင်းပြုလုပ်ရန်အတွက် (၁) ပတ်ကြာချိန်ရှိပြီး ကာလတန်ဖိုးအနေနှင့် မြန်မာကျပ်ငွေ ၄၅၀၀၀၀ ဝန်းကျင် တန်ကြေးရှိပါသည်။ စက်တပ်လှေကြီးတစ်စင်းပြုလုပ်ရန်အတွက် (၁) လကြာချိန်ရှိပြီး ကာလတန်ဖိုးအနေနှင့်
မြန်မာကျပ်ငွေ ၂၆၀၀၀၀၀ ဝန်းကျင် တန်ကြေးရှ်ိကြောင်း သိရပါသည်။
လှေပြုလုပ်ပုံအဆင့်ဆင့် (၁) ပထမဦးစွာ သစ်ကိုအရင်ခွဲ၍ လိုချင်သော
ဆိုဒ်ရအောင် ပြန်ညှိရပါသည်။
(၂) လှေ၏ကိုယ်ထည်ခိုင်ခံ့စေရန်အတွက်
လှေဒေါက် ၊ လှဲတံကူ၊ ထောင်တံကူ ပြုလုပ်ရပါသည်။
(၃) ထို့နောက် ပြုလုပ်ထားသော လှေဒေါက်၊ လှဲတံကူ၊ ထောင်တံကူတို့ကို လှေ၏ကိုယ်ထည်ခိုင်ခံ့စေရန်အတွက် ကျနစွာတပ်ဆင်ပေးရပါသည်။
(၄) ပြီးလျှင် လှေ၏ ကြမ်းခင်းကိုခင်း၊ ပြန်လှန်ပြီးမှ သန့်ရှင်းကာ အဆင့်ဆင့်ပြန်ဆင့်ရပါသည်။
(၅) လိုချင်သည့် ပုံသဏ္ဍန်ရပြီဆိုလျှင် လှေက်ိုအချောသတ်၍ သစ်စေးကိုင်ပါသည်။
(၆) သစ်စေးကိုင်သည့်အခါ သစ်စေးကို အကြမ်း(၃) ကြိမ်သုတ်ပေးရပါသည်။ အကြမ်း(၃) ခါ သုတ်ပြီးပါက အနု(၁)ကြိမ် ပြန်သုတ်ပေးရပါသည်။ အနု(၁) ကြိမ်ပြီးလျှင် သစ်စေးကို ဇကာဖြင့်စစ်ချထားသော သစ်စေးအရည်ကြည်ဖြင့် (၃) ကြိမ်ထပ်သုတ်ပေးရပါသည်။
(၇) သစ်စေးသုတ်ရန် သစ်စေးကိုကောက်ရိုးပြာနှင့်ရောစပ်၍ အသုံးပြုရပါသည်။ အကြမ်းသုတ်ပြီးသည့်အခါ ဝါးကပ်နှင့်ကော်ဖတ်တိုက်ပြီးမှသာ အနုသုတ်ပေးရပါသည်။
(၈) စက်တပ်လှေကြီးအတွက် သစ်စေး ၁၅ပိဿာခန့် ကုန်၍ လှေငယ်အတွက် သစ်စေး ၃ ပိဿာခန့်ကုန်သည်ဟု သိရပါသည်။
ကျိုင်းတောင်း၊ကျိုင်းခမ်းကျေးရွာမှ ထွက်သည့် သစ်စေးသည် အကောင်းဆုံးဟု သိရပါသည်။
(၉) သစ်စေးသုတ်ပြီးနောက် သစ်စေးကိုင်ထားသော လှေခြောက်ရန်အတွက် မိုးရာသီတွင် -၁ ပတ်၊ ဆောင်းရာသီတွင် -၂ ပတ် ကြာမြင့်ပြီး နွေရာသီတွင်ခြောက်သွေ့ရန် ပိုကြာသည်ဟုသိရပါသည်။ သစ်စေးအခြောက်ခံသည့်အခါ နေပူတွင် မလှန်းရဘဲ အရိပ်ကောင်းသည့်၊ လေဝင်လေထွက်ကောင်းသည့် နေရာတွင်သာ အခြောက်ခံရသည်ကို သတိပြုရပါသည်။

အပိုပစ္စည်း/ စွန့်ပြစ်ပစ္စည်း ပြန်လည်အသုံးချမှု လှေလုပ်ရန်အတွက် ခွဲခြမ်းလိုက်ရာမှ ထွက်လာသော သစ်အပို အပိုင်းအစအနများကို ပရိဘောဂများ၊ သက်ဆိုင်ရာလိုအပ်တဲ့ အသုံးဝင်တဲ့ပစ္စည်းများ ၊ လက်ဆောင်ပစ္စည်းများ စသဖြင့် အသုံးတည့်လျှင် တည့်သလို ပြုလုပ်ရောင်းချခြင်း၊ လက်ဆောင်ပေးခြင်း ပြုလုပ်ကြပါသည်။ သစ်သားဖြတ်ရာ၊တိုက်ရာမှ ထွက်လာသော ( လွှစာ ၊ လွှစာမှုန့်များက်ိုတော့ သစ်စေး၊ လဲမှို့) တို့နှင့် ရော၊ ဆုံနှင့်ကြိတ်ပြီး လှေပြုလုပ်ရာတွင်ဖြစ်စေ ၊ လှေအဟောင်းများ ပြန်လည်ဖာထေးရာတွင်ဖြစ်စေ ပတ်တီးအဖြစ် ပြန်လည်အသုံးပြုနိုင်ပါသည်။ 
သစ်များ ပိုင်းဖြတ်ရာတွင်လဲ လျှပ်စစ်သစ်ဖြတ်စက်ထက် လက်ဖြင့်တိုင်းဆရခြင်းကို ပိုမိုကျွမ်းကျင်ကျင်လည်သောကြောင့် လျှပ်စစ်ချွေတာရာရောက်သလို ၊ နေ့စားအလုပ်သမားများလဲ ဝင်ငွေပိုမိုရရှိကြပါသည်။ ယခု လှေလုပ်ငန်းအကြောင်းကို နန်းပန်မြို့၊ ရေလည်ရပ်တွင် ရှိသော
