Brief Story of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda

In the time of Zaw Bwar “Si Hsine Pha” in the year 721, when he founded Nyaung Shwe. About 580 years ago, five Buddha images were sculpted while the “Than Htaung Village” caves were explored. Of the five sculpted images of Buddha, two of them are "Ya Han Thar". One of the main reasons we welcome many travellers every year. The floating gardens are home for many different types of seasonal plants: Gourd, Bitter gourd, Bell pepper, Cucumbers, Different Flowers Species, Tomato are some of them... The Inle tomatoes that grow on these gardens are very famous all over Myanmar, specially because its taste and its durability. Bamboo poles hold the floating garden together to make sure they don't go to far or end up on the bottom of the lake. Inle floating market became since the revolution council authority year in 1962 . This market was called “ War Lal Out Zay “by locals. In Tourist Burma year 1996, there was so much tourists come and visit to Inle floating market . But the climate was got worse during in these year, Inle lake water level at low water. So the floating market be lost in disappear because of shallow water. In COVID pandemic period 2020, the market in Inle lake was closed because of social distancing. So the lake dwellers are difficult to buy some vegetables and meats . The sellers and dealers are selling throughout the stream with their boats. Because of that the floating market come to existence in time. Covid-19 Update Guidelines - 16th January, 2021 ( latest update) Documents required to bring - To visit Nyaung Shwe, you need to bring a letter of recommendation from your residence township to present at the town entrance check-point. Also, some villages have check-points at their entrance. Quarantine Requirements - Travelers arriving by car People coming from Yangon, Mandalay, Stay-at-Home Townships and overseas need stay at the Quarantine Facility Center or a Government designated quarantine hotel for 14 days at your own expense. The Quarantine Facility Center is the Nyaung Shwe Basic High School No. 1 and it costs 3.000Ks per day (included meals). - Travelers arriving by plane Passengers arriving at Heho Airport, will have the authorities verifying their recommendation letters from your residence township and will identify those who need to stay under quarantine. Those who need stay in quarantine will be taken from the airport in a vehicle provided by the Shan State Departme

Do you know that around Inle and Nyaung Shwe are have a lot of trekking trails beautiful sceneries? Let's visit today the Myingtabwe Mountain trekking. Myingtabwe Mountain is located on the west side of Inle Lake at 4,283 feet above the sea level. It takes about two and a half hours from Hlay Seik Village, Lin Kin Village until the top. The road is a little steep, but you can enjoy the natural scenery and the fresh breeze. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can visit the Myingtabwe Buddhist Temple and can get enchanted by the breathtaking panoramic view of Inle Lake. Get ready and enjoy this gorgeous trekking. Seagulls by the lake

During the winter season, seagulls come to Inle Lake. They usually stay on the middle of the lake. But on this winter, due to the low number of tourists due to the Covid-19, the birds are staying at the Jetty of Nyaung Shwe in search of food. In this area, seagulls are often fed with bread and traditional Nyaung Shwe fried chick peas. Unfortunately bread, chips and fried food are very unhealth for birds. Fish is the best food/snack to keep them healthy. Please keep this in mind We want to preserve our natural environment and would like to ask your help on that, please do not litter on the water or sideroads. Ancient Shwe Indein Pagoda

Shwe Indein Pagodas are located at the Indein Village, Kye Paw Khon Village Group, on the western part of Inle Lake, Nyaung Shwe Township. It is about one hour and a half by car and about one hour by boat from Nyaung Shwe. Once you arrive at Indein Village, you can see the beautiful Indein Dam and the bamboo forest on the way to the Pagodas Complex. It is said that the Buddha there was built and worshiped by the King Thiridhamma Thauka of Patalipote Region, more than 200 years ago. Shwe Indein complex has 1,054 temples, 403 pillars on the stairways of 2178ft long. You can see a variety of traditional architecture and figures from the 14th to the 18th centuries, from the Inwa period to the late Konbaung period. You can also see the mural paintings on the two pagodas with inner tunnel. Anually, on the 7th and 8th day of Tan Saung Mon month according to Myanmar Calendar, the alms-giving ceremony of Shwe Indein Pagoda is held. Shan Fish Rice

Let me tell you about one of our must-try food during your stay in Nyaung Shwe / Inle Lake. The Shan Rice, is a local dish usually eaten for breakfast. Some people also enjoy having it for lunch or dinner. It is made with a mix of Shan rice or Inle rice, tomato stock, boiled snake head fish soup, tumeric powder and fish paste, fried garlic oil.
