Inle is a 14 miles in length and 7 miles wide lake, part of the Shan Hills, the lake is bounded by the East Sin & West Lattmongkyawe, Shwe Maye Tint, Taungkhamauk, ShweInn Tein and Shwe O Daung Mountains. It is located 2.914 feet above sea level. According to geologists, Inle Lake is a dissolved lake formed by the melting of limestone. It is believed that the lake is 200 million. The lake receives water from numerous creeks and rivers flowing from many different directions, even from different states. But unfortunately according to the UNDP & FAO’s research in 1993 the lake level is decreasing 3.5cm a year. The people that lives on the lake are called Innthar. And there are many different stories behind the origin of them.
