  Covid-19 Update Guidelines - 16th January, 2021 ( latest update) Documents required to bring - To visit Nyaung Shwe, you need to bring a letter of recommendation from your residence township to present at the town entrance check-point. Also, some villages have check-points at their entrance. Quarantine Requirements - Travelers arriving by car People coming from Yangon, Mandalay, Stay-at-Home Townships and overseas need stay at the Quarantine Facility Center or a Government designated quarantine hotel for 14 days at your own expense. The Quarantine Facility Center is the Nyaung Shwe Basic High School No. 1 and it costs 3.000Ks per day (included meals). - Travelers arriving by plane Passengers arriving at Heho Airport, will have the authorities verifying their recommendation letters from your residence township and will identify those who need to stay under quarantine. Those who need stay in quarantine will be taken from the airport in a vehicle provided by the Shan State Departme

Ancient Shwe Indein Pagoda

Shwe Indein Pagodas are located at the Indein Village, Kye Paw Khon Village Group, on the western part of Inle Lake, Nyaung Shwe Township. It is about one hour and a half by car and about one hour by boat from Nyaung Shwe. Once you arrive at Indein Village, you can see the beautiful Indein Dam and the bamboo forest on the way to the Pagodas Complex. It is said that the Buddha there was built and worshiped by the King Thiridhamma Thauka of Patalipote Region, more than 200 years ago. Shwe Indein complex has 1,054 temples, 403 pillars on the stairways of 2178ft long. You can see a variety of traditional architecture and figures from the 14th to the 18th centuries, from the Inwa period to the late Konbaung period. You can also see the mural paintings on the two pagodas with inner tunnel. Anually, on the 7th and 8th day of Tan Saung Mon month according to Myanmar Calendar, the alms-giving ceremony of Shwe Indein Pagoda is held.
